Frequently asked questions
-
What is IV therapy and how does it work?
IV therapy delivers a personalized blend of vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and amino acids directly into your bloodstream through a small IV line. Your body can absorb more of each nutrient than it would from a pill or food, because it skips digestion.
A typical Drip Tonic drip takes 45 to 60 minutes, runs through a small line in your forearm, and is administered in your home, hotel, or studio by a Registered Nurse. See the full drip menu →
-
Who is mobile IV therapy for?
Honestly, most healthy adults. Some guests book around a busy season, a wedding, travel, or training. Others come for routine self-care, or simply because they feel like it. Whatever the reason, we meet you there.
If you have a pre-existing medical condition, we recommend speaking with your primary healthcare provider before booking.
-
Who shouldn't get IV therapy?
IV therapy isn't appropriate during pregnancy, if you have kidney or heart conditions that restrict fluids, if you're on certain blood thinners, or if you've had a serious allergic reaction to IV vitamins before.
The supervising Nurse Practitioner reviews every intake and will tell you honestly if a drip isn't right for you, and refunds you in full if your intake isn't approved.
-
What are the risks and side effects?
The most common are minor: a small bruise at the IV site, a cool sensation along the arm during infusion, a brief taste some guests notice, light flushing. Rare risks include vein irritation, infection at the IV site, or an allergic reaction to an ingredient.
Your RN carries a reaction kit on every visit, watches you throughout the infusion, and adjusts the rate or pauses on the spot if anything feels off.
-
Is mobile IV therapy safe?
Yes, when it's delivered the way we deliver it. Every intake is reviewed by a Nurse Practitioner, our blends are pharmacy-prepared, every infusion is administered and monitored by a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and every visit comes with a reaction kit.
-
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No referral required. Our supervising Nurse Practitioner provides the medical direction needed to review and approve each drip based on the intake form you complete during booking.
-
Do I need to fast or prepare before my appointment?
No fasting required. We recommend eating a light meal and drinking water in the hours before your visit. It helps the line place comfortably and the formulation feel smooth.
-
Can I book same-day or last-minute?
Same-day visits are sometimes possible, and a same-day fee applies. For next-day, email or text us and we'll let you know if we have availability and can fit you in.
-
How long does an appointment take?
About 45 to 60 minutes for most drips. A Glutathione IV is quicker, closer to 15 minutes. A vitamin shot itself takes only a couple of minutes, and we stay with you for a little while afterward. The first drip of a session is run slowly on purpose.
-
What should I wear or have on hand?
Loose sleeves or a short-sleeve top so we can place the line comfortably. A glass of water, a quiet spot to sit or lie down, and 45 to 60 minutes set aside are all you need. We bring everything else.
-
What areas do you serve?
Toronto, the GTA, and surrounding areas. If you're nearby and not sure, just ask, we often can. See the full service area →
-
What happens after I book?
You'll get a JaneApp confirmation along with an intake form to complete. We'll text you the morning of your visit with an arrival window, and your nurse arrives at the door at the time you booked. Before your drip begins, the supervising Nurse Practitioner reviews and approves your intake.
-
Can two people get drips at the same address?
Yes. More than one guest can be seen at the same address, and we love doing group bookings. If you're planning something for a group, just contact us, the Wellness Events page is the easiest place to start.
-
What does the IV insertion feel like?
We use a small, fine needle to place the line. Most guests describe it as a brief pinch that fades within seconds, and you won't feel the line once it's running. Ice, distraction, and an unhurried pace are all part of the visit.
-
Can I work, watch TV, or relax during my drip?
Yes. Most guests read, scroll, return emails, or simply close their eyes. We bring the equipment, you bring the chair. The arm with the line stays mostly still; everything else is yours.
-
When will I feel the effects?
Everyone's a little different, so we can't promise a set timeline. Many guests notice a difference by the time the bag finishes, and hydration support often feels the most immediate. Skin and recovery tend to build gradually, which is why many guests book a series, much like a course of facials, rather than a single visit.
-
How often should I get a drip?
It's different for everyone, which is why the best answer comes from a conversation with your nurse. Many guests settle into a roughly monthly rhythm, and we'll help you set wellness goals and a plan that fits. We'll always tell you honestly when more isn't more.
-
What are vitamin shots, exactly?
A single-dose intramuscular injection of a concentrated vitamin or nutrient: B12, glutathione, vitamin D, or biotin. Delivered into muscle for a slow steady release, no IV line required. The injection itself takes under a minute.
-
How do they compare to a full IV drip?
Drips deliver a layered formula in saline, take 45 to 60 minutes, and hydrate as well as supply nutrients. Shots are a one-ingredient micro-dose in about a minute, ideal between drips or for guests who want a low-commitment option.
-
Which shots do you offer, and what does each one do?
- B12: supports energy, mental clarity, and the nervous system. Often the first shot guests on plant-based diets try.
- Glutathione: the body's master antioxidant. Often paired with Skin Brightening or Athletes Recovery.
- Vitamin D: winter and immune support; helpful through Canadian winters when sun exposure is low.
- Biotin: supports hair, skin, and nail health.

-
How long do shots take?
The injection itself takes under a minute. After a brief intake recap, we stay with you for a little while before we head out, so it's a short visit overall.
-
Can I combine a shot with a drip?
Yes, most guests do. A B12 shot at the end of an Energy Boost drip is one of the most-requested pairings. Glutathione layers beautifully with any of our drips for added antioxidant support.
-
Can I book Drip Tonic for an event or group?
Yes. Bridal mornings, corporate wellness days, hotel suite stays, retreats, athletic team recoveries, we bring the room to your room. Inquire through the Wellness Events page or write to wellness@driptonic.ca.
-
What's the minimum group size?
Five or more guests in one location qualifies as a group or event booking. Below that, we book each guest as a private appointment at the same address.
-
Do you travel to hotels and venues?
Yes, throughout Toronto, the GTA and surrounding areas. We've set up in private hotel suites, condo penthouses, country clubs, photo studios and family homes. We're warm and easy to be around, happy to chat or let you relax, and we always leave the space exactly as we found it.
-
How far in advance should I book?
About a week's notice works for most bookings. For larger groups of 50 or more, try to give us around two weeks. The earlier you reach out, the easier it is to lock in your date.
-
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your appointment. Within 24 hours, a 50% fee applies. Same-day cancellations are charged 75% of the visit to honor the Nurse Practitioner's review and the RN's time. Events follow a separate written agreement.
-
Do you offer refunds?
If your intake isn't approved by the Nurse Practitioner, you're refunded in full. After a drip is delivered, we don't refund the experience, but if something didn't sit right, we want to hear it directly: wellness@driptonic.ca.
-
How is my health information protected?
Records live in JaneApp, a PHIPA-compliant Canadian booking platform. We comply with PIPEDA, PHIPA and CASL for all communications. See our Privacy page for the full disclosure.
-
Is gratuity included?
No, tipping is never expected. If your nurse made the visit, you're welcome to leave a tip through JaneApp at checkout. The most-loved tip is a Google review.
